Our Name

Answers to your questions about Declare Church

Why are we changing the name?

Our new name reflects the vision and mission we believe God has spoken for this next season of our church. Throughout Scripture, God often changed a name to mark a new season of His work—like Jacob becoming Israel (Genesis 32:28). In the same way, this name represents a clear step forward in who God is calling us to be.

Why this name?

Declare Church reflects both our vision to be Heaven’s declaration on the Earth and our mission to Lead the lost to life, build resilient faith and Declare Jesus everywhere.

Psalm 96:3 calls us to “declare His glory among the nations”, Psalm 145:4 speaks of one generation declaring God’s works to the next. These passages capture the heart of who God has called us to be.

Why now?

Over the past several years, we have prayerfully listened to God and discerned the direction He is leading our church. From the beginning, our desire has been to name what is, not just what we hope to become.

We believe God has formed and matured us as a church family, and today, we are Declare Church. This moment also aligns with a significant milestone: 40 years of ministry. It’s an opportunity to honor what God has done and step forward with faith into all He has planned.

What does “Declare Church” mean?

Declare Church is a gathered community of believers committed to declaring Jesus and living as heaven’s declaration on earth in our lives, our city, and beyond.

Will this change how we do ministry?

This name doesn’t change our mission—it clarifies it. We will continue to lead the lost to life, build resilient faith, and declare Jesus everywhere, just as we have for years.

How will you preserve the legacy of the church?

One of our core values is being legacy focused, which means we honor where we came from while building toward the future. Every person who goes through Essentials will hear our founding story and learn about our founding pastors.

We will also continue sharing the stories of those who have faithfully been part of this church for decades and celebrating the vital role they play in our church family.

How does this impact the community?

We will intentionally communicate this change to key community leaders and partners, sharing the heart behind the new name and our continued commitment to serving and loving our community well.
